The river flows inside us
A 15 square meters watercolor illustrated scenario for the 2019 edition of the event "Pétala por Pétala" (Petal by Petal), annually held by SESC Interlagos.
It presents water and the Atlantic Forest Biome in an educational and playful approach. It shows their interactions and physical-environmental dynamics, their protection by traditional and native peoples, and their close relationship with them.
Each element of the artwork was handmade, using watercolor on paper, and then scanned and digitally treated for printing.
Conception, environmental art project and illustration: Patricia Yamamoto

This environmental illustration filled the room where the event took place. It was also meant to be used as a support for educational activities throughout the year.
This annual event was created to disseminate inspiring socio-environmental practices. The theme for the 2019 edition was water, shown in music, circus and theater presentations, with debates, workshops and experiences, in addition to local exhibitors.
The panel addressed the geographic space in which SESC Interlagos is located - in a spring area and close to Serra do Mar (Sea Mountains), which forms the watershed. The Atlantic Forest promotes a low temperature, which, added to the physical barrier of the Serra do Mar, generates rain and water infiltration into the soil, which form springs and water courses, mainly drained today into the Billings Reservoir.
The permanence of traditional and native peoples guarantees the existence of forests, mangroves and waters.

The panel was printed and installed by DF graphic solutions.
